Teaching for me, begins with understanding-not just instruction

True Progress happens when both horse and rider understand why they are doing the work, not simply how to perform it. My approach to teaching is rooted in clarity, patience, and thoughtful communication, with the long-term well-being of the partnership always in mind.

How I Approach Teaching

My teaching is grounded in:

  • Clear fundamentals and correct basics

  • Respect for the individual horse

  • Developing rider awareness rather than dependency

  • Emphasizing process over outcome

  • Long-term soundness, confidence, and understanding for both horse and rider

Whether I’m working with dressage riders, eventers, or those simply seeking a better partnership, the objective remains the same: thoughtful, sustainable progress built on trust and clarity.

In Practice

Teaching takes many forms. It may be a single lesson, an ongoing training relationship, or a clinic environment where ideas are explored collectively.

I value curiosity, questions, and conversation. Growth happens when ridders feel supported-not rushed-and when horse are given the time they need to truly understand their work. My goal is not quick fixes, but lasting understanding that riders can carry forward independently.
