What is “IT”?

That “It” feeling.  We’ve all experienced “It”.  Maybe “It” was a brief moment in time, maybe “It” was intermittent, or “It” could have lasted for a couple of days or years on several different occasions. Maybe “It” was an experience of the past and you long for “It” again.  Many times we take “It” for granted, until you are missing “It”.  “It” comes and goes only to leave one hungry for more.  Describe “It” to friends or loved ones, you realize everyone has their own “It”.  Like fishing, “It” can nibble away at the baited hook of dreaming “It”, and gives hope with a bite, only to fall short of coming in the boat.   “It” is addicting, and has become a quest to acquire.  So we work hard for “It”, study “It”, even look to others for “It”.  We sacrifice a lot for “It”.  Don’t rush “It”.  You learn “It” is precious.  “It” will come on it’s own time.  Nurture “It”, even though “It” may not be in our hands at the present moment, but careful not to worship “It”.  “It” can make you desperately chasing for something unknown.  In the end, “It” is a sensation, not an object.  For when “It” has become an object, you have fallen for a false idol.  “It” may be a sense of accomplishment, not winning.  “It” may be a sensation of caring for another person or animal, not owning it.  “It” may be a sensation to be loved, not popular.  “It” may be a sense of partnership, not control.  When you think about “It”, every person you know is struggling to find “It”, unless they are not chasing “It”.  Think about “It” to much, can drive you mad.  When you don’t think about “It”, “It” can fall surprisingly in your lap.  For when “It” comes around, we’ll learn to enjoy “It”, embrace “It”, until we meet again.  Or maybe we can learn to accept that “It” is every moment in time that we get to live here and may take with us here after. - Eric G.
